Bush Is to Blame
Others might take the fall for Abu Ghraib abuses, but Berkeley students hold Bush responsible
May 14 - Washington insiders are playing a typical blame game over the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. Maybe some military leader is responsible for the outrages, they say. Maybe a civilian leader in the Pentagon. Maybe even Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld himself. Here at Berkeley, however, liberal students know exactly who to hold responsible for the dehumanization of the detainees. Ultimately, the person to blame for Abu Ghraib is George W. Bush

Cheney was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on January 30, 1941 and grew up in Casper, Wyoming. Wife Lynne Ann Vincent.

Born: January 30, 1941 in Lincoln, Nebraska
Profession: Businessman
earned his bachelor's and master's of arts degrees from the University of Wyoming The University of Wyoming, located in Laramie, Wyoming.

Cheney's Man Penned Torture Memo
JULY 8--David Addington, the General Counsel to Vice President Dick Cheney, was the actual author of one of the now-infamous White House ``torture memos'' that claimed for President Bush the authority to violate the Geneva Conventions on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, in the so-called ``war on terrorism.'' The immediate result of this Hitlerian document was the scenes of inhuman torture at the Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad, and the as-yet untold tales of similar torture at other secret prison locations in Afghanistan, at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and in other countries around the world.

The Evil Dick Cheney
From 1997 through 2000, Cheney's Halliburton sold $73 million worth of oil equipment and services to Iraq through subsidiaries Dresser-Rand and Ingersoll Dresser Pump Co. to help rebuild Iraq's Gulf War-damaged infrastructure. That was more business than any other U.S. company, and Cheney later lied about his Iraqi connection to media types like Sam Donaldson.

Vice President Dick Cheney thought it would be a good idea for the Navy to pay his $186,000 home electric bill http://www.harpers.org/WeeklyReview2001-07-24.html#20030929233555-9599207697

Vice President Dick Cheney, citing executive privilege, was still refusing to release the records of his five meetings with Enron executives to discuss energy policy. People were beginning to use the word “cover-up.” http://www.harpers.org/Enron.html#20030929235325-1805214363

The General Accounting Office said it would file suit to force Vice President Dick Cheney to turn over records of his meetings with Enron officials, with whom he met five times to discuss energy policy. http://www.harpers.org/WeeklyReview2002-02-05.html#20030929235434-1413310934

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers revealed that Brown and Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton, Vice President Dick Cheney's old company, has received more than $1.7 billion in military contracts in Iraq, far more than was previously known. It was noted that the practice of outsourcing logistical operations to private contractors was pioneered by Cheney during the first Gulf War when he was secretary of defense. Brown and Root won the first such contract, and Cheney was hired as CEO of Halliburton soon afterward. http://www.harpers.org/DickCheney.html#20030902535099722320

Vice President Dick Cheney defended Halliburton, which continues to pay him a salary, from what he said were "desperate attacks" by opponents of the Bush Administration. "They're rendering great service," he said. "They do it because they're good at it, because they won the contract to do it. And frankly the company takes a certain amount of pride in rendering this kind of service to U.S. military forces."» http://www.harpers.org/Halliburton.html#20040126-759242995285

Halliburton, which received most of its Iraq contracts by administrative fiat rather than through a competitive bidding process, admitted that its employees in Iraq have accepted $6.3 million in kickbacks http://www.harpers.org/Corruption.html#20040126-057660457246

CNN is reporting that on the floor of the Senate yesterday, Dick Cheney told Sen. Pat Leahy, "Go fuck yourself." We agree! Go fuck yourself -- while it's still legal!
UPDATE: Speaking of sodomy. . . Wonkette operatives tell us that the fighting words sprang from an exchange in which Cheney told Leahy he didn't like what Leahy had been saying about Halliburton, to which Leahy replied that he didn't like Cheney calling him a bad Catholic. So you'd see how "Go fuck yourself" is the only appropriate response.

Kerry vows to restore 'truth' to presidency
Kerry and Edwards said they would return to the Senate to oppose a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, but only for a final vote. With debate set to begin next week on the amendment proposed by the president, Kerry emphatically reaffirmed the ticket's position that marriage is between a man and a woman.
"Let's be very firm about it. Both John and I believe firmly and absolutely that marriage is between a man and a woman," Kerry said. "But we also believe that you don't play with the Constitution of the United States for political purposes and amend the Bill of Rights when you don't need to when states are adequately addressing this issue."

Kerry, who recently said he agrees with the Roman Catholic Church that life begins at conception, said he disagrees with his church's teaching that homosexuality is a sin. Edwards twice did not respond when asked if he, too, believes life begins at conception.

Late surge wins Iowa for John Kerry
January 20, 2004
SENATOR John Kerry of Massachusetts rode an 11th-hour surge to victory in Iowa's kickoff presidential caucuses, upsetting Democratic front-runner Howard Dean and stunning caucus favorite Dick Gephardt.

Mr Kerry's comeback blew the nomination fight wide open, setting the stage for a free-for-all in New Hampshire's follow-up primary.

American TV networks are reporting Mr Kerry took the vote, with early indications he had nearly double the support of the early favourite, Mr Dean. Sample polls suggested the voting rates were around 35 per cent for Mr Kerry, closely followed by Senator John Edwards on 34 per cent, with Mr Dean in a distant last place on 18 per cent.

The John Kerry nobody knows
• Why Kerry sought and received an early discharge from the Navy in 1970

• How Kerry has cynically exploited his service in Vietnam -- on both sides of national security issues -- and has even changed his tune about the importance of serving in Vietnam at all, downplaying its importance when defending Clinton and stressing his service when running against George W. Bush

• How the youthful Kerry fed North Vietnam's propaganda machine by accusing U.S. troops of committing unspeakable atrocities in Vietnam (while never substantiating his charges)

• Kerry's blatant disregard for the lives of American military personnel: as disgraceful as it is unforgivable

• Kerry's self-serving and inconsistent use and misuse of his Catholic faith to gain votes

• How Kerry tried to turn the scandal of the abuse of Iraqi detainees to his own advantage

• Revealing details of Kerry's real record on health-care reform during his tenure in the Senate

• How the liberal media in the U.S. and around the globe is using every opportunity to stoke anti-American hysteria in the Muslim world -- with John Kerry's willing complicity

• How Mrs. Kerry's Heinz Corporation is guilty of the same displacement of workers and uses the same tax loopholes that Kerry excoriates in his campaign rhetoric

• Kerry's pledge not to attack President Bush during wartime: violated in less than a month

• How Howard Dean's mercurial presidential candidacy led Kerry to change his tune about the Iraq war -- while the Kerry camp used underhanded, scheming methods to sabotage the Dean movement

• Kerry's ambitions: so prevalent they were even noticed -- and resented -- by some members of the group he headed: Vietnam Veterans Against the War

• How the multimillionaire Kerry unhesitatingly plays the class warfare card, especially when it comes to economics and taxes

• Kerry's ties to the most infamous of all antiwar protestors: Jane Fonda

• The one consistent element of Kerry's foreign policy: let the United Nations, not the United States, handle it

• Kerry's unwavering support for the failed anti-terror policies of the Clinton Administration

• How Kerry's "solution" to the loss of American jobs to other countries is self-contradictory

• The pro-abortion litmus test that Kerry has vowed to apply to his nominees to the Supreme Court -- while hypocritically denouncing Bush's preference for pro-life justices

• How Kerry parts company with most Americans on the issue of gay rights

• Kerry's connections to shady fundraising titans with ties to the Chinese Communists

• How Kerry has backed the education establishment instead of the founding principles of education that worked well for decades

• What Kerry is willing to do to win the presidency -- and how he can be stopped

Meet Teresa's Wealthy Friends: The Heinz Foundations and the Kerry Campaign
Summary: The head of the Heinz charitable foundations happens to be the wife of John Kerry, the Democratic Senator and presidential candidate. What's the relationship between the foundation's charitable gifts to environmental groups and environmentalist supporters of the Senator's presidential campaign? What might that mean for a Kerry presidency?
Teresa Heinz Kerry is the widow of the late Pennsylvania Senator and ketchup heir H. John Heinz III. She is the current wife of presidential candidate and Massachusetts Sen. John F. Kerry (D.). And she is a member of the board of three Heinz foundations that altogether are worth more than a billion dollars. Annual tax reports (IRS Form 990) show that Teresa Kerry Heinz is:
Chairman of board of the Heinz Family Foundation. With assets of $69 million in 2002, it made grants that year of $4.8 million.
Chairman of board of the Howard Heinz Endowment. It had assets of $773.3 million and made grants of $43.7 million in 2002.
Member of the board of directors of the Vira I. Heinz Endowment. Its 2002 assets were $399.2 million and it made grants of $17.9 million.
That adds up to $1.24 billion in assets and $66.4 million in grants disbursed in 2002. One other fact: All three Heinz foundations make large grants to environmental pressure groups led by powerful persons who support her husband's political ambitions.
The Woman Behind the Money
Maria Teresa Thierstein Simoes-Ferreira was born in 1938 in Portuguese-ruled Mozambique, the daughter of a prominent Portuguese expatriate doctor. She grew up in South Africa and took her undergraduate degree in Romance languages at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. She speaks Portuguese, French, Spanish, Italian and English.
During graduate study at the University of Geneva's interpreters' school she met young H. John Heinz III, who was working at a Swiss bank on summer break from Harvard Business School. She didn't know who he was at first--he told her only that his father "made soup."
They were married four years later in 1966 at the Heinz Chapel in Pittsburgh and had three sons. John entered politics and was elected a Republican Representative from Pennsylvania's 18th District in 1971 and a U.S. Senator in 1976. His tragic 1991 death in a freak plane crash devastated Teresa and their sons.
The couple had been important environmental advocates for nearly a decade before his death: In 1984 they established a fund to help environmental causes, and in 1989 Teresa worked to stop a road-building project in Brazil.
When John Heinz died, Teresa became chairman of the Howard Heinz Endowment and a member of the Vira I. Heinz Endowment board of directors. From then on, she had oversight over numerous environmental grants from both endowments, including a grant of more than $200,000 in 1992 to the Environmental Defense Fund, where she had been a board member since the early 1980s (and remains one today).
In 1992, President George H.W. Bush sent Teresa Heinz to the United Nations "Earth Summit" in Rio de Janeiro. Sen. Heinz had introduced Teresa to his colleague, Sen. John Kerry, at an Earth Day rally in 1990. In Rio they became reacquainted, and Teresa was impressed by Kerry's devotion to environmental issues. Three years later, in 1995, they were married.
Perhaps you could chalk up the environmental movement's strong and early support for John Kerry's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination to the influence of his wife. Her colorful background, sharp intellect and passionate commitments go a long way in explaining her hold over environmental audiences. Susan Smart of California's League of Conservation Voters says, "We will soon have not one but two environmentalists in the White House! It makes me giddy to think about that!"
However, comments like Smart's miss a critical detail about Teresa Heinz Kerry's behind-the-scenes influence. Before considering her personality and intellect, first consider all that Heinz money.

A series of e-mails made available to crushkerry.com may mean trouble for the Kerry campaign and the family of charities collectively known as the Heinz Family Philanthropies. The e-mails show employees of the various Heinz Family Philanthropies are deeply involved in John Kerry’s campaign for president, specifically in the recruitment of a speech coach, campaign scheduling, campaign organization, and even the setting up of a healthcare town hall-style meeting.
The Heinz Family Philanthropies are tax-exempt charitable organizations and are forbidden to engage in partisan political activity.

U.S. Sen. John Edwards at Bilderberg
Thu Jun 10, 2004 02:31

U.S. Sen. John Edwards at Bilderberg

Milan, Italy, Jun. 6 (UPI) -- Among the 100 or so invitees to the annual Bilderberg conference under way Sunday in a northern Italy resort is potential U.S. vice president John Edwards.

Reporters generally are not invited and those who are observe the conference group's general pledge of secrecy, reinforcing the view of conspiracy theorists that the elite gathering is up to no good, London's The Guardian newspaper reported.

Sen. Edwards is regarded in Democratic circles as a good performer in his battle with Sen. John Kerry for the nomination to be presidential candidate and so is expected to be a finalist when Kerry chooses a running mate.

Other invitees are Mrs. Bill Gates and likely are regulars Bill Clinton, Henry Kissinger and U.S. Defense Secretary Don Rumsfeld.

The Bilderberg tradition began in 1954 as a transatlantic post-war sounding board.
the Bilderburg Group, has apparently at their June, 2004 meeting, already
anointed U.S. Senator John Edwards (D., No.Car.) as the new U.S."elected"
President. Since that group includes the barons of the monopoly press, they
will twist the brains of Americans to make Edwards the new President. And
naive, poorly informed Americans will still believe that they decided who
was to be President when it was actually decided ahead of time and foisted
upon the know-nothings. At the hands of the more-and-more arrogant
Establishment, Ruling Class, "powers that be"---or simply THEM---U.S.
Presidential elections are a fraudulent dead letter, a magic show decided
ahead of time and performed on half-awake Americans.

John Edwards makes big business squirm
Corporate America is fighting John Edwards' Democrat run for the vice presidency because of his career as one of the boardroom's most detested foes: a trial lawyer.

JOHN Kerry's choice of John Edwards as his vice presidential candidate is getting predictable but sincere applause from Democrats, relieved that some charisma will enliven their presidential ticket. But the initial positive reaction may not last long as the Bush campaign zeroes in on Edwards' vulnerability: his presidential campaign contributors.
During his run for the top job, John Edwards relied heavily on leading trial lawyers. Twenty-two of his top 25 donors were trial attorneys. And those donations likely cloak a multitude of sins and violations of the campaign-finance laws.
Edwards' trial lawyers bundled massive contributions from their assorted law firms and client lists to float his presidential run. Bundling isn't illegal — except when the donors are straw men and women putting up money given to them by a wealthy patron.
For example, $1 million of Edwards' funds came from trial lawyers' wives — identified merely as "homemakers" in the campaign-finance filings. If the money came from their husbands, there could be a violation of law.
More significant is the example of Little Rock trial lawyer Tad Turner, whose firm gave $200,000 to the Edwards campaign and associated committees. But Slate found last Aug. 29 that many of the "contributions . . . appear to be illegal." The online magazine reported that "one clerk who gave $2,000 said that Turner had 'asked for people to support Edwards' and assured them 'he would reimburse us.' " Another clerk told much the same story.
When that came out, Edwards returned $10,000 to Turner employees. Tad Turner himself — a noted trial lawyer — said that he didn't know his promise of reimbursement was illegal.
How many more stories like Turner's are there buried in Edwards' filings? The Bush campaign's negative-research operatives will be crawling all over the trial lawyers' firms to find any other donations that were similarly disguised. Since more than half of Edwards' donations came from trial lawyers, there's a vast ground to pick over looking for scandal.

Statement on the Iraq War
Ralph Nader
April 19, 2004
Every day our exposed military remains in war-torn Iraq we imperil U.S. security, drain our economy, ignore urgent domestic needs, and prevent Iraqi democratic self-rule. We need to announce a withdrawal of our troops, not increase them.

Calls by the major presidential candidates to indefinitely "stay the course" spur the spiral of violence. U.S. presence serves as a magnet for insurrection, kidnapping, terrorism, and anarchy. Announcing a definite withdrawal and ending the U.S. corporate takeover of the Iraqi economy and oil will separate mainstream Iraqis from the insurgents and give the vast majority of people there a stake in replacing occupation with independence.

Three-steps to an announced withdrawal:

1. Develop an appropriate peace-keeping force under United Nations auspices from neutral nations with such experience and from Islamic countries. This force should begin to promptly replace all U.S. troops and civilian contractors. Former general Wesley Clark described Bush foreign policy as cowboy unilateralism that goes against everything the U.S. is supposed to represent to the world. It is time for the U.S. to return to the family of nations. The U.S. will have to underwrite a portion of this less expensive short-term force.

2. Free and fair elections should be held as soon as possible under international supervision so democratic self-rule can be put in place in Iraq and allowing Iraq to provide for its own security. Iraq is a country long controlled by a brutal dictator, devastated by economic sanctions and torn apart by war. Some autonomy for Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds makes a new government more workable. Iraq will sort out these issues more easily without the presence of a US occupying force and the projected 14 US military bases that Iraqis see as installing a puppet government fronting for an indefinite military and oil industry occupation.

3. The U.S. and others should provide interim humanitarian aid to Iraq. Economic sanctions and war have resulted in tremendous damage to people, their children and the Iraqi infrastructure. Until the 1991 Gulf War, Hussein was a US anti-communist ally also used to keep Iran at bay. During the 1980s under Reagan and Bush I U.S. corporations were licensed to export materials to Iraq for chemical and biological weapons. U.S. oil and other corporations should not profit from the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq. Control over Iraqi oil and other assets should be exercised by Iraqis.
Former General Wesley Clark said: "President Bush plays politics with national security. Cowboy talk. The administration is a threat to domestic liberty."

We need to free ourselves from the politics of fear and support a stable way out of the worsening Iraq quagmire.  http://www.cfr.org/campaign2004/pub7037/ralph_nader/statement_on_the_iraq_war.php

Dirty Politics:

Try to Guess Who's Backing Nader
Fund-raising nadir? Five percent of Nader's funds come from the GOP.
By Holly Bailey
NewsweekJuly 19 issue - In his run for the White House, Ralph Nader is getting help from an unexpected source: Republicans. Of the $1 million that Nader has raised for his campaign so far, about $50,000 is from donors who have also given to President George W. Bush's campaign. One in 10 of Nader's biggest contributors—individuals who've written checks of $1,000 or more—are longtime GOP donors.
Among the notable: Richard Egan, Bush's former ambassador to Ireland. Egan raised more than $100,000 as a Bush Pioneer in 2000 and at least $200,000 this cycle as one of the Rangers, the Bush campaign's most elite fund-raising circle. In 2001 Egan contributed $100,000 of his own money to help pay for Bush's Inauguration, while he and his family rank among the biggest contributors to the Republican Party in general, giving nearly $1 million to the GOP since 1999, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. And according to Nader's campaign-finance reports, Egan, his son John and his daughter-in-law Pamela each contributed the maximum $2,000 donation to Nader's effort. Egan declined to comment to NEWSWEEK.
Another $2,000 contributor to Nader was Houston businessman and longtime Bush-family pal Nijad Fares, the son of Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Issam Fares. In 2000 Fares gave $200,000 to the Bush Inaugural fund. "Republicans are giving money to Nader because they want to prop up his candidacy," says Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe.

Republicans and conservative groups in battleground states including Oregon, Florida, Wisconsin and Michigan are also working to get Nader on the ballot this November. Democrats have sued to keep him off the ticket in Arizona, where, according to the state's Democratic Party, half of the 10,000 registered voters who signed petitions last month to get Nader on the ballot were Republicans. The state GOP committees in Michigan and Florida have announced efforts to collect signatures to get Nader on the ballot in those states. Meanwhile, in Oregon, two conservative groups—the Oregon Family Council and Citizens for a Sound Economy—financed phone calls to GOP voters encouraging them to attend a recent Nader nominating convention. CSE, which is headed by former Republican House majority leader Dick Armey, plans to take its campaign to other states. Nader last week rejected calls to disavow Republican efforts on his part, telling reporters that GOPers aren't doing much to help his insurgent campaign. Yet he seems to find some inspiration in his new supporters, telling the crowd at a recent rally, "I think I'll end up taking more votes away from Republicans than Democrats."

The 2004 Election Has Already Been Rigged
Posted September 2, 2003 thepeoplesvoice.org
By Schuyler Ebbets

The Neocons have determined that elections can be manipulated easily with the new touch screen voting systems and when accompanied by a media pounding of lies, the public will accept the rigged election results as fact.

The pollsters have been forced to admit that the majority of Americans are against the re-election of George W. Bush. Two wars, thousands of dead human beings, and ten million lost jobs later, and people are beginning to realize that something has gone terribly wrong. In spite of this gradual awakening most registered voters continue to depend on TV for their news and they are kept woefully in the dark about issues like election reform and touch screen voting. The media has gone to great lengths to foster an illusion of legitimacy and normalcy surrounding the electoral process. People have been intentionally lead to believe that their vote counts and Bush could actually be booted out of office on November 2nd. There is no way that Bush is going to lose, it just can’t happen, the 2004 election has already been rigged. In reality the corporations and the military industrial complex have bought themselves a government that will serve their interests and they will never allow a presidential election to jeopardize their investment again.

On February 23, 2001 Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris suggested that Florida rent rather than buy touch screen voting machines in time for the 2002 midterm election. She said, "I think it would be wrong-headed and precipitous to purchase any equipment now. If you buy now, you're buying antiquated technology". According to her twisted logic the purchase of defective voting equipment was a bad idea but it was acceptable to use the faulty voting systems in the election.

Prior to Florida's outrageous September 10, 2002 primary election, poll data showed heavy support for Janet Reno in Broward County, but election results from one Broward precinct alone revealed an impossible 0% turnout among more than 800 registered voters. Reno requested a recount of eighty precincts containing 31,375 registered Democrats because they reported only 1,952 votes. Her request was immediately turned down by the State Elections Board. According to an AP analysis, if those precincts matched the average county turnout, they should have produced 10,260 votes, more than five times the number recorded by the Election Systems & Software (ES&S), iVotronic touch-screen voting machines.
Almost two months later on election night, November 5th, 2002, tens of thousands of Floridians experienced difficulties using the iVotronic machines. Voters called in to Neil Rogers AM radio talk show the day after the election and complained of “broken” voting machines, and machines that voted multiple times for Bush when McBride was selected. Electronic voting expert, Rebecca Mercuri told American Free Press, “Numerous severe voting system problems occurred throughout Florida electronic voting on November 5th, but none of the major news networks are covering these problems,” On November 6th, David Host, spokesman for the Florida Secretary of State, declared the elections, "an unqualified success", and the Associated Press reported, “The closely watched contest for governor in Florida was decided without a hitch.” This propaganda might have been believed if 103,222 ballots in Broward County alone had not been “misplaced”.

According to investigative reporter Greg Palast, the now infamous Katherine Harris used her position as Florida’s Secretary of State during the 2000 election to unjustly purge over 90,000 predominantly black and Hispanic Democratic voters from the rolls. People remembered how Harris had taken away their civil rights when she prevented them from voting. On November 5th, 2002, most of the Democratic electorate of
3.7 million people turned out to vote. Although registered Democrats outnumbered Republicans by 340,000, it was too late, the new ES&S iVotronic machines had already been installed in eleven key Florida counties. On November 5, 2002 Jeb Bush became governor of Florida again, and Katherine Harris was given a seat in the House of Representatives with only 138,940 votes, defeating Democratic opponent Jan Schneider's oddly low 114,618 votes.

This wasn’t the first Republican victory involving Election Systems & Software” (ES&S). Former right wing radio talk-show host and CEO of ES&S, Chuck Hagel, decided he would run for the U.S. Senate in Nebraska with his own ES&S machines counting the votes. Hagel failed to mention that he had been both CEO and Chairman of ES&S on his disclosure documents, or that he was an owner in the company that installed, programmed, and operated the voting machines used by most of the citizens of Nebraska. In 1996, Republican Hagel won the race in Democratic Nebraska for the U.S. Senate easily carrying both the primary and general elections. According to Bev Harris of blackboxvoting.com, Hagel scored lopsided victories in almost every demographic group, including Black communities that had never voted for a Republican. With the widest margin of victory in state history Hagel became the first Republican in 24 years to win a Senate seat in Nebraska. On November 5, 2002 Hagel ran against Democrat Charlie Matulka and was re-elected to his second term in the United States Senate by an unreal 83% of the vote. Again, the votes were counted by computer-controlled voting machines built programmed and installed by Hagel’s company Election Systems & Software.

In Georgia, Republican Saxby Chambliss repeatedly questioned the patriotism of Democratic incumbent and triple amputee war hero Max Cleland during his campaign. Chambliss made the absurd claim that he was more patriotic than Cleland even though he himself had avoided service in the Vietnam war with a "medical deferment". A Poll taken by the Atlanta Journal Constitution published on November 1st, just five days before the election, showed support for Georgia Democratic Senator Max Cleland at 49%, clearly 5% ahead of Republican Saxby Chambliss at 44%. Many People in Georgia, particularly veterans, had been angered by the hypocritical remarks made by Chambliss and turned out in record numbers to vote for Cleland. When the 'Diebold' Electronic Voting tally was made public it stunned and confused the Georgia voters. Saxby Chambliss had won with 53% of the vote compared to Max Cleland’s 46%. It represented a 9% pro-Republican swing that seemed to materialize out of thin cyberspace. The victories of Chambliss and Hagel, along with the tragic October 25, 2002 plane crash that killed Democratic Senator Paul Wellstone, virtually guaranteed Republican control of the Senate.

The Neocon election rigging juggernaut lurches forward unstoppable in the guise of so-called election reform. Three Republican dominated corporations now control over 80% of the vote count in the United States: Sequoia Voting Systems Inc; Electronic Systems & Software Inc. (ES&S); and Diebold" Inc. As this transition has taken place, a pattern of election upsets which overwhelmingly favor Republican candidates is emerging. These are only test runs in preparation for the 2004 presidential selection. The Neocons have determined that elections can be manipulated easily with the new touch screen voting systems and when accompanied by a media pounding of lies the public will accept the rigged election results as fact. The greatest advantage of the new touch screen voting scam is the removal of a paper trail and the blockage of access to the inner workings of the software.

When a voter touches the screen to select a candidate there is no confirmation that the machine has actually registered the correct selection. In the old punch-card and fill-in-the-circle paper systems, voters could see their choice marked on the ballot. In the event of any confusion or question, a record of the vote existed and a recount was possible. Since the new electronic systems leave no paper trail there can be no recount and the results must be accepted as fact. Attempts to examine the code used by the machines in Florida were blocked in the courts by the GOP citing, "proprietary/trade secrecy" protections under a law, which made it impossible for the DNC to ascertain how the machines tabulated votes.

It would be admirable if the American people could resist the next rigged presidential election as they did the scam of 2000. Of course the ‘Supreme Court five’ would uphold the
"proprietary/trade secrecy" protections and the bogus election results would be ruled as legitimate. The coming election fraud has been so well planned that it probably won’t make it into the courts. With the help of the media, the Neocons will deliver the deathblow to democracy at the touch screen voting terminals. http://liberty.hypermart.net/Newsletter/3/4_The_2004_Election_Has_Already_Been_Rigged.htm

Stealing Elections How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy
By John Fund

Review by Daniel Scott Thomas

John Fund's Stealing Elections is the right book at the right place at the right time. Just this week, Thomas Sowell, Rush Limbaugh, and Matt Drudge have all discussed the subject of voter fraud. Fund's book will be an important part of all such discussions in the future.

Fund takes us on a tour of Election Fraud, USA, detailing election abuses in state after state: California. Texas. Missouri. Hawaii. South Dakota. Wisconsin. Louisiana. Colorado. He gives examples of dead people voting, unknown voters residing at fictional addresses, mysteriously lost ballots, mysteriously found ballots, polls closing early, polls staying open late, alteration of ballots, intimidation of polling place workers... and of course, all the details surrounding the Florida turmoil of 2000: hanging chads, undervotes, overvotes, and time zone challenges. If you are looking for evidence to bolster your arguments for fair and honest elections, you'll find plenty of examples here.

Fund struck a chord in me with his description of Motor Voter Law abuses. I recently registered to vote in California by picking up the registration form at the Department of Motor Vehicles. I checked the box asking for permanent absentee voter status, something I now regret after reading about the abuses surrounding absentee ballots. Fund points out that many of those (including myself) who mail in their ballots never have to show any evidence of (a) their citizenship, (b) their legal residence, or (c) their very existence. My wife, who is not a U.S. citizen, could have done exactly the same thing and no one would have been the wiser. Because of the Motor Voter law, Fund argues, the value of the vote of honest citizens depends on whether others are corrupt.

Fund's conclusions are reason enough to read Stealing Elections:

Provisional voting, with safeguards in place, should be allowed for those who are not registered to vote due to bureaucratic error.

First-time voters who register by mail must show some form of identification before casting a ballot.

Same-day registration must be eliminated in order to avoid busloads of people temporarily "moving" into hotly contested areas.

The influence of attorneys must be reduced by investing in improved election procedures, better equipment, and continuous voter education. Otherwise, Fund notes, Election Day may turn into "Election Month."

Young people - and others who are technologically savvy - should be recruited to work as Election Day poll workers as computer-based systems are put into place. Some polling places have already been closed because a shortage of such volunteers.

Several changes need to be made in the way absentee ballots are witnessed, collected, and counted: The sealing of the ballot envelope needs to be signed by a witness who provides his contact information. Third parties must not be allowed to deliver absentee ballots. Voter rolls must be reviewed and purged of felons, non-citizens and duplicate registrations. Fund's wish list of necessary changes doesn't end there. Subpoena power should be given to investigate claims of fraud and disenfranchisement. Election and registration boards should be made up of appointed citizens representing more than one party. Regular audits of election systems, procedures, and software should be performed. Poll watchers should be permitted from parties and organizations that request the privilege. Central counting stations should be eliminated. And finally, the ballots of our troops should be treated with special care and respect.

Although states have spent a great deal of time and money since 2000 trying to reform their voting systems, most have not implemented Fund's innovative ideas. Because of this, we may unfortunately wind up with Fund's ominous prediction coming true:

If you hated Florida, you may not have seen anything yet.

Another major election controversy is likely inevitable, but there is hope. Fund's book is a comprehensive primer on the vulnerabilities of our election system, and an important resource for those who desire to reform it. The integrity of our votes is again within reach.

Why did Fund omit listing FLORIDA as the worst in VOTE FRAUD?

Voter Fraud

Some say Nixon lost the WH in 1960 due to voting "irregularities" in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and other states.

He was given kudos at the time for conceding like a gentleman and sparing the country a long, drawn out recount process. (contrast that with the whiney, likely certifiably insane sitting VP and his party who would run 40 years later, and lose under similar circumstances.)

The point is - voter fraud has been going on at least this long (and likely much longer) and, if anything, the problem is becoming worse - not better.

It's almost as if - for some unknown and nefarious reason - the powers that be WANT it this way?

You are exactly right. That is the same conclusion I came to afterr I have been speaking out against VOTE FRAUD since 1985 and have testified before the U.S. Civil Rights Division of Election Fraud...given 150 documents to the FBI and verified that the U.S. Border Patrol Agents arrest many "illegal aliens each month who have VOTERS CARDS...fake drivers licenses and other false documents and got the Border Patrol head to speak to the FBI to reveal this VOTE FRAUD and nothing was ever done.

I could tell you what happened here but I'm not going to because I am an investigator who testifies with incriminating data and do not want my identity known.

Like you said, it looks like the parties want it to continue. That is my conclusion because under the two party system of Republicans and Democrats I have found both sides using VOTE FRAUD/ VOTE CORRUPTION. Read the book titlked, "VoteScam" by Keneth and James Collier who were two brothers that were investigator reportyers who lived in Miami, Fla. who began investigations into VOTE FRAUD revealing a can of worms.

Voter fraud, again!

2000 WorldNetDaily.com

Stop the presses! I mean it. Stop the election!

Something is going on in Washington and California that will have a great
impact on tomorrow's election -- and it stinks to high heaven.

Let me start by telling you how I found out about it.

A very good friend of mine, who shall remain nameless, has a long-time
live-in housekeeper from Guatemala. The housekeeper has a daughter who just
turned 18. The immigration status of both mother and daughter has been
pending for years. Papers have been filed with the Immigration and
Naturalization Service. Hearings have been held. But they are not citizens.

This is very important: The daughter has not registered to vote.

But, a few days ago, the 18-year-old got a very attractively packaged
"Dear friend" letter from Bill Clinton, paid for by the California
Democratic Party.

Here's what it said
