The Freedom Tower is out. One World Trade Center is in.
The Port Authority, the agency that owns the building at Ground Zero, said Thursday that the signature skyscraper replacing the Twin Towers destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001, will be more commonly known as One World Trade Center.
The reason for the name swapping? One World Trade Center is more marketable, said Steve Sigmund, a spokesman for the Port Authority.
"We believe there's been a good response in the marketplace toward it," Sigmund said Thursday.
The 102-story building, under construction at the 16-acre site, was named the Freedom Tower in the first Ground Zero master plan. At the time, officials said the tallest, most symbolic of five planned towers at the site would demonstrate the nation's triumph over terrorism.
In the end, the tower's address, One World Trade Center, is the one that is easier for people to identify with, said Anthony Coscia, Port Authority chairman.
On Wednesday, the agency announced that the first commercial tenant, a Chinese real estate company, has signed a lease for space in the building. The Beijing Vantone Industrial Company has agreed to lease five floors - 64 through 69 - for nearly 21 years.
The office tower is scheduled to be completed in late 2013.
Friday, the Tribute WTC Visitor Center is planning to reach a milestone by welcoming its 1-millionth visitor.
The person who helps the center reach that mark will be presented with a plaque honoring all those who have come there to learn about the 2001 terror attacks against the World Trade Center, said Ben Urizar, a center spokesman.
The tribute center at 120 Liberty St., which opened in 2006, is expected to hit the milestone before 10 a.m., when a news conference is planned.

Masonic Tower of Babylon in NYC?
Well we have all heard about it, many of us have seen pics and it is truly a beauty. The new centre piece of the WTC ground zero redevelopment site.
But isn't there something fishy about this building? I mean we all know that 911 was fishy to begin with right?
So tell me this why are all these masons running this redevelopment? Why a building 1776 feet tall (the year of formation of the US - the NWO by the freemasons)? Why so much glass and crystal (they even mention this world numerous times)? In fact much of the project is made to resemble crystal (actually many such similar projects in other major masonic cities in the world in recent years too such as Paris, Toronto as two I know of), does this have relation to Atlantis and their obsession with crystals and their qualities?
What about the references to the statue of liberty the great flame in the darkness symbolizing ISIS from the French Masons early in US history? Why link this building to the statue of liberty in design and story?
Why is the building referred to as a spiral (it does spiral and taper too like the famed tower at Babylon right?), and why only one tall building now?
So tell me this, if you are with me this far, how long can the masons keep this obvious monument of theirs secret from the public, and what message does it send to the rest of us? http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread26954/pg1
Hermetic Symbolism in a Masonic Engraving
This next link is where the point is well made, getting down to basic symbolism. Go over the history of the Caduceus, and one can see it's transfomation from plain staff, to adornment of duel snakes.
It doesn't get any more obvious, does it?
"I have even been led to muse on the fact that the usual depiction of the double helix representing DNA is remarkably similar to the ancient depiction of the serpents guarding the world tree, a figure still found in the caduceus." http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=26954
President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health ?
PROJECT NEW FREEDOM:
Bush plans to screen whole US population for mental illness
A sweeping mental health initiative will be unveiled by President George W Bush in July. The plan promises to integrate mentally ill patients fully into the community by providing "services in the community, rather than institutions," according to a March 2004 progress report entitled New Freedom Initiative ( www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/newfreedom/toc-2004.html ). While some praise the plan's goals, others say it protects the profits of drug companies at the expense of the public.
Bush established the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health in April 2002 to conduct a "comprehensive study of the United States mental health service delivery system." The commission issued its recommendations in July 2003. Bush instructed more than 25 federal agencies to develop an implementation plan based on those recommendations.
The president's commission found that "despite their prevalence, mental disorders often go undiagnosed" and recommended comprehensive mental health screening for "consumers of all ages," including preschool children. According to the commission, "Each year, young children are expelled from preschools and childcare facilities for severely disruptive behaviours and emotional disorders." Schools, wrote the commission, are in a "key position" to screen the 52 million students and 6 million adults who work at the schools.
The commission also recommended "Linkage [of screening] with treatment and supports" including "state-of-the-art treatments" using "specific medications for specific conditions." The commission commended the Texas Medication Algorithm Project (TMAP) as a "model" medication treatment plan that "illustrates an evidence-based practice that results in better consumer outcomes."
Dr Darrel Regier, director of research at the American Psychiatric Association (APA), lauded the president's initiative and the Texas project model saying, "What's nice about TMAP is that this is a logical plan based on efficacy data from clinical trials."
He said the association has called for increased funding for implementation of the overall plan.
But the Texas project, which promotes the use of newer, more expensive antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs, sparked off controversy when Allen Jones, an employee of the Pennsylvania Office of the Inspector General, revealed that key officials with influence over the medication plan in his state received money and perks from drug companies with a stake in the medication algorithm (15 May, p1153). He was sacked this week for speaking to the BMJ and the New York Times.
The Texas project started in 1995 as an alliance of individuals from the pharmaceutical industry, the University of Texas, and the mental health and corrections systems of Texas. The project was funded by a Robert Wood Johnson grant—and by several drug companies.
Mr Jones told the BMJ that the same "political/pharmaceutical alliance" that generated the Texas project was behind the recommendations of the New Freedom Commission, which, according to his whistleblower report, were "poised to consolidate the TMAP effort into a comprehensive national policy to treat mental illness with expensive, patented medications of questionable benefit and deadly side effects, and to force private insurers to pick up more of the tab" (http://psychrights.org/Drugs/AllenJonesTMAPJanuary20.pdf).
Larry D Sasich, research associate with Public Citizen in Washington, DC, told the BMJ that studies in both the United States and Great Britain suggest that "using the older drugs first makes sense. There's nothing in the labeling of the newer atypical antipsychotic drugs that suggests they are superior in efficacy to haloperidol [an older "typical" antipsychotic]. There has to be an enormous amount of unnecessary expenditures for the newer drugs."

rival John Kerry

Olanzapine (trade name Zyprexa), one of the atypical antipsychotic drugs recommended as a first line drug in the Texas algorithm, grossed $4.28bn (£2.35bn; 3.56bn) worldwide in 2003 and is Eli Lilly's top selling drug. A 2003 New York Times article by Gardiner Harris reported that 70% of olanzapine sales are paid for by government agencies, such as Medicare and Medicaid.
Eli Lilly, manufacturer of olanzapine, has multiple ties to the Bush administration. George Bush Sr was a member of Lilly's board of directors and Bush Jr appointed Lilly's chief executive officer, Sidney Taurel, to a seat on the Homeland Security Council. Lilly made $1.6m in political contributions in 2000—82% of which went to Bush and the Republican Party.
Jones points out that the companies that helped to start up the Texas project have been, and still are, big contributors to the election funds of George W Bush. In addition, some members of the New Freedom Commission have served on advisory boards for these same companies, while others have direct ties to the Texas Medication Algorithm Project.
Bush was the governor of Texas during the development of the Texas project, and, during his 2000 presidential campaign, he boasted of his support for the project and the fact that the legislation he passed expanded Medicaid coverage of psychotropic drugs.
Bush is the clear front runner when it comes to drug company contributions. According to the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP), manufacturers of drugs and health products have contributed $764 274 to the 2004 Bush campaign through their political action committees and employees—far outstripping the $149 400 given to his chief rival, John Kerry, by 26 April.
Drug companies have fared exceedingly well under the Bush administration, according to the centre's spokesperson, Steven Weiss.
The commission's recommendation for increased screening has also been questioned. Robert Whitaker, journalist and author of Mad in America, says that while increased screening "may seem defensible," it could also be seen as "fishing for customers," and that exorbitant spending on new drugs "robs from other forms of care such as job training and shelter programmes."
But Dr Graham Emslie, who helped develop the Texas project, defends screening: "There are good data showing that if you identify kids at an earlier age who are aggressive, you can intervene... and change their trajectory." http://bmj.bmjjournals.com/cgi/content/full/328/7454/1458
After this mass screening they are planning to use the lie-detector
Dr. Herbert H. Nehrlich
I heard that the screening will be strictly divided in female and male, although no allowance for those 'mixed bags' is planned. The president of the democratic country of America will be the first to be tested, the first lady will lead the better looking sex. Also, it needs to be added that Saddam Hussein apparently revealed the location of a secret giant cave where no WMD were found but the raw materials that the most popular antipsychotic drugs can be made out of. It is rumoured that Saddam himself stayed sane that way. All in all, a commendable effort by the 'money-changers' to once and for all do away with the small change and go after the entire cake. And, if they succeed in getting the percentage of 'positives' right the future will, indeed, be very rosy.

PSYCHOLOGY AND PSYCHIATRY AS CONTROL
In books and the news, you will occasionally see psychology and psychiatry alluded to as a control mechanism used by government under the guise of mental health. To make this allusion more understandable, consider the function of government: to exercise authority in controlling the actions of the people under its jurisdiction and directing the affairs of state in order to maintain public order and promote the common welfare. Right away we see that control is fifty percent of government.
Control is for the purpose of maintaining public order and promoting common welfare. Philosophers may separate those two ideas, but politicians join them. Indeed, they can be interrelated. One can argue that to maintain public order, the welfare of the people must be enhanced. As well, you could say that to promote the common welfare, order must be maintained. The two major political parties in the USA can be described herein. That aside, control is used for both public order and common welfare.
A sane person would see the difference between public order and common welfare. An insane view is that they are the same thing. The mental health of citizens falls under the common welfare, but to the irrational person, it falls under “public order = common welfare.” Enter control into the equation and you arrive at “control = public order = common welfare. If you are starting to feel a little weird or spiny about now, don’t fret. You are looking at an insane equation.
A characteristic of the insane is not being able to tell the difference, not just the difference between right and wrong, but the difference between things period! So, you get idiocies from the equation listed above, such as, in order to improve the mental welfare of people, you must control them. There it is. The National Institute of Mental Health and the Department of Education are off to the races giving our billions of dollars to psychiatrists and psychologists to control us.
The viewpoint of “control = public order = common welfare” has not always been with us. It only began with the infiltration of psychological thought into government about fifty-five years ago. It is a psych produced phenomena. Instead of saying that government uses psychs to control the people, let us go one step deeper and say that psychs use government to give them money to control the people. Psychs infiltrated the government to prepare the way (get authority and money) for them to control the people. We see the results in medicine, law and education ad nauseum.
The psychs may have thought that they had to work long and hard to push their view into government, but what does the government have to gain by going along with the insanity?

FDA Approves Human Brain Implant Devices
Apr 13, 6:34 PM (ET)
By JUSTIN POPE
(AP) Maryam Saleh, a Cyberkinetics Inc. clinical research assistant, holds a brain gate censor, which...
BOSTON (AP) - For years, futurists have dreamed of machines that can read minds, then act on instructions as they are thought. Now, human trials are set to begin on a brain-computer interface involving implants.
Cyberkinetics Inc. of Foxboro, Mass., has received Food and Drug Administration approval to begin a clinical trial in which four-square-millimeter chips will be placed beneath the skulls of paralyzed patients.
If successful, the chips could allow patients to command a computer to act - merely by thinking about the instructions they wish to send.
It's a small, early step in a mission to improve the quality of life for victims of strokes and debilitating diseases like cerebral palsy or Lou Gehrig's. Many victims of such ailments can now survive for long periods thanks to life support, but their quality of life is poor.
(AP) Timothy Surgenor, president and CEO of Cyberkinetics Inc., poses with a brain model in his company...
"A computer is a gateway to everything else these patients would like to do, including motivating your own muscles through electrical stimulation," said Cyberkinetics chief executive Tim Surgenor. "This is a step in the process."
The company is far from the only research group active in the field. An Atlanta company, Neural Signals, has conducted six similar implants as part of a clinical trial and hopes to conduct more. But for now, its device contains relatively simple electrodes, and experts say Cyberkinetics will be the first to engage in a long-term, human trial with a more sophisticated device placed inside a patient's brain. It hopes to bring a product to market in three to five years.
A number of research groups have focused on brain-computer links in recent years.
In 1998, Neural Signals researchers said a brain implant let a paralyzed stroke victim move a cursor to point out phrases like "See you later. Nice talking with you" on a computer screen. The next year, other scientists said electrodes on the scalp of two Lou Gehrig's disease patients let them spell messages on a computer screen.
Cyberkinetics founder Dr. John Donoghue, a Brown University neuroscientist, attracted attention with research on monkeys that was published in 2002 in the journal Nature.
Three rhesus monkeys were given implants, which were first used to record signals from their motor cortex - an area of the brain that controls movement - as they manipulated a joystick with their hands. Those signals were then used to develop a program that enabled one of the monkeys to continue moving a computer cursor with its brain.
The idea is not to stimulate the mind but rather to map neural activity so as to discern when the brain is signaling a desire to make a particular physical movement.
"We're going to say to a paralyzed patient, 'imagine moving your hand six inches to the right,'" Surgenor said.
Then, he said, researchers will try to identify the brain activity associated with that desire. Someday, that capacity could feed into related devices, such as a robotic arm, that help patients act on that desire.
It's misleading to say such technologies "read minds," said Dr. Jonathan Wolpaw, of the New York State Department of Health, who is conducting similar research. Instead, they train minds to recognize a new pattern of cause and effect, and adapt.
"What happens is you provide the brain with the opportunity to develop a new skill," he said.
Moving the experiment from monkeys to humans is a challenge. Cyberkinetics'"Brain Gate" contains tiny spikes that will extend down about one millimeter into the brain after being implanted beneath the skull, monitoring the activity from a small group of neurons.
The signals will be monitored through wires emerging from the skull, which presents some danger of infection. The company is working on a wireless version.
But Richard Andersen, a Cal Tech expert conducting similar research, said the field is advanced enough to warrant this next step.
"I think there is a consensus among many researchers that the time is right to begin trials in humans," Andersen said, noting that surgeons are already implanting devices into human brains - sometimes deeply - to treat deafness and Parkinson's disease. "There is always some risk but one considers the benefits."
Wolpaw said it isn't clear that it's necessary to implant such devices inside the brain; other technologies that monitor activity from outside the skull may prove as effective. But, he said, the idea of brain implants seems to attract more attention.
"The idea that you can get control by putting things into the brain appears to have an inherent fascination," he said.
Andersen, however, said that for now devices inside the brain provide the best information.
"It would be nice if in the future some technology comes along that would let you non-invasively record from the brain," he said. "MRIs do that. But unfortunately, it's very expensive and cumbersome, and the signal is very indirect and slow." http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040413/D81U6LTO0.html
