We are asking that everyone call Assembly Republican Leader Bill Leonard. He has the capacity, as Republican leader, to hold his caucus together on this bill. I don't think he has heard from enough of us, because his Republican caucus is still giving us fits. When you call his capitol office, ask for his Chief of Staff, Mr. Richard Mercereau. Be polite, but firm, on how devastating this measure could be to gun owners. Assemblyman Bill Leonard (916) 445-8490 - Capitol 323-8544 - FAX

March 20, 1998: Please direct questions to GOC.
By a vote of 22-14, the Senate gave the nod to Assemblyman Don Perata's AB 23, the bill that adds firearms to the list of guns already banned under Roberti-Roos. The measure is now headed for the Assembly, and could come up as early as Monday the 23rd.
It is vital that gun owners act NOW to stop this bill from getting to the Governor. Our last, best chance to defeat this is in the lower house, and we must keep up the pressure.
We are getting reports that Assemblymembers Cunneen, Kuykendall, and Firestone are looking for reasons to vote against AB 23. Let's give them lots of reasons. Give it to them by phone, fax, and e-mail, if necessary!
