Some may remember this line from President George Bush Sr.'s address before Congress at the onset of the Gulf War. "What is at stake is more than one small country, it is a big idea - a new world order ... to achieve the universal aspirations of mankind."
This "big idea" resulted in the deaths of 200,000 Iraqis within a few weeks, and was most notably demonstrated on the "highway of death" between Kuwait City and Basra. On orders from the White House, American pilots napalmed and rocketed thousands of helpless Iraqi soldiers and others who were fleeing back to Iraq on whatever conveyance they could hold onto. It wasn't until General Collin Powell protested the slaughter was "unamerican" that President Bush Sr. ordered the attack to end. We can only guess the impression this war crime made on Arab minds in the region.
On October 2, British Prime Minister Tony Blair made an announcement that was similar to the elder Bush's over a decade ago. On October 3rd the Guardian newpaper reported:
Tony Blair yesterday turned his battle against the terrorists who ravaged New York into a far wider struggle for a new world order that would uphold human dignity and social justice "from the slums of Gaza to the mountain ranges of Afghanistan".
"This is a moment to seize," he said. "The kaleidoscope has been shaken, the pieces are in flux, soon they will settle again. Before they do let us reorder this world around us and use modern science to provide prosperity for all. [emphasis supplied]
As a full partner in the "war on terror", this announcement is as significant as though made by President Bush himself. Blair effectively announced that this war would be used as an opportunity to "reorder this world". In other words, it's not about terrorism, but a bigger plan to finish the work of the new world order. Only the "highway of death" can accurately portray what this means for the world.
While politicians give their grand speeches about social justice, we can always find the "devil in the details." The character of this global system is exemplified by the only world leader of the 20th century, besides Adolph Hitler, to publicly call for a "new world order" -- George Bush, Sr.
Even though we don't hear much from him these days, Bush Sr. has been busy representing The Carlyle Group, "a well-connected Washington merchant bank specializing in buyouts of defense and aerospace companies," according to the Wall Street Journal. Carlyle is reportedly rated as the world's largest private equity firm with $12 billion in assets under supervision, and they pay Bush Sr. $80k to $100k per presentation to recruit investors from around the world.
Carlyle's chairman and managing director is Frank Carlucci, former Secretary of Defense under President Reagan and college roommate of current Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld. Former Secretary of State James Baker III is also reported to be a partner in the firm, as is international financier George Soros. Somehow the $40 billion Congress handed Bush Jr. to fight the "war on terror" has created a conflict of interest, to say the least, as his father's company will profit handsomely from this war, and so will the current President as his heir. One does not need to look very far before the "universal aspirations" and "prosperity for all" tripe begins to wear thin. This new war will definitely be prosperity for someone, without a doubt.
There is one irony that stands out as we examine these connections. A major investor in the Carlyle group is Saudi Binladin, a company owned by the family of Osama bin Laden in Saudi Arabia. Partners in Carlyle -- Carlucci, Baker, and former President Bush -- have made pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia to meet with the bin Ladens for the purposes of cultivating their investments with Carlyle. Bush Sr. met with them twice after the U.S. embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania that were blamed on Osama -- once in Novermber '98 and again in January of 2000. The U.S. has also contracted with Saudi binLadin to construct military barracks and airfields for U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia.
The bin Laden clan has reportedly disavowed Osama, thus giving The Carlyle Group "plausible deniability" that they are connected with Osama in any way. But at least one U.S. newspaper reports that Osama stays in contact with his family.
Yossef Bodansky, director of the House Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, said "Osama maintains connections" with some of his nearly two dozen brothers. He would not elaborate.
An April story in the Baltimore Sun reported that Osama still calls home.
[National Security] Agency officials have sometimes played tapes of bin Laden talking to his mother to impress members of Congress and select visitors to the agency.
These two stories clearly reveal a connection between the White House and the man they villify as a terrorist. "We will starve the terrorists of funding," said President George W. Bush during his address before Congress. "If you do business with terrorists, if you support or sponsor them, you will not do business with the United States of America."
According to news media reports, Osama's vast wealth was derived from his family's business which also has investments with The Carlyle Group. Is the President going to shut down his father's network? It is unlikely. It would seem, given its reach and influence, that The Carlyle Group would shut down the President first.
We must know that when politicians speak about "reordering" the world or ushering in a "new order", it will be one that is implemented by a network of insiders such as those at The Carlyle Group and their favorite son in the White House. The New York Daily News reports that George Sr. is busy helping his son get ready for the war. "The old man is engaged well beyond what's been publicly reported - or ever will be," a source told the Daily News. Another Bush source, when asked what the former President was up to, said only: "He's busy."
Yes, they are probably all very busy right now -- speaking peace and prosperity while busily investing in weapons and building their fortunes on war. They speak against "terror" but are already up to their eyeballs in shady dealings that profit from it.
This reveals the true nature of the false salvation that has come to the world today. It is a criminal mentality that appears decent and legitimate because it possesses the trappings of power, yet it is opportunistic and self-serving, traits that will not hesitate to raise the ante of destruction to advance its goals. As man rejects the Messiah that God has chosen to send for his blessing and salvation, he has but one alternative and that is to follow the Barrabas of our day into a war of annihilation.
